Abstract

Humanity has always understood education as one of the main promoters of individual and social transformation, directly influencing the progress of society. A number of pedagogues have developed theories that have gained prominence in education with two primary objectives: student autonomy (Freire, 1996) and equity in education (Scotti, 2007). Although Profes was born of the perception of specific needs of students that could be met by making good use of existing technological resources, the company's performance is based on studies and modern theories of pedagogical practices. According to Feuerstein, the same stimulus can produce different effects on an apprentice, depending on how this stimulus is processed and presented to the learner through a mediator (personified by the teacher). Specifically, Profes finds a foundation in the pedagogical theory of Cognitive Modifiability, as proposed by the post-Piagetian scholar Reuven Feuerstein (1921-2014) (Feuerstein, R., 1990; Meier, M. and Garcia, S., 2007).Our proposal, therefore, is based on considering as a central element of a teaching-learning process the teacher agent (Bloom, 1984). This teacher, impacted by technology, migrates from his unique role of content transmitter to the role of mediator and healer of knowledge and the teaching-learning process. Internet-based electronic marketplaces (IEMPs), electronic markets, remain the most promising interorganizational information systems for meeting needs between suppliers and customers (Grieger, 2003). This organization facilitated and simplified the online meeting of demands and offers of any product or services previously distant.But empathy and human uniqueness make the process of connecting a teacher appropriate to the academic and pedagogical needs of the students to become a problem of high complexity. Over several years, Profes has become a benchmark in this market, accumulating tens of thousands of teachers from Brazil in more than 13,000 specialties grouped in 192 disciplines. In addition, various interaction data that was created automatically or collaboratively by the users of the platform, exploring the new Web 2.0 standard (Vossen and Hagemann, 2007). In recent years, Profes has been working to improve the outcome of its cross-search system. This project aims to use the most modern and advanced techniques and models for hybrid recommendation systems, combining collaborative filtering with content-based ones to describe items (Qumsiyeh and Ng, 2012) and users (Ganu et al., 2013, Kim et al. al., 2012, Wang and Chen, 2012) in order to generate better recommendations (Bobadilha et al, 2013). The project aims to bring significant results in the increase in the satisfaction of the services of the Profes, and consequently in the increase of the hiring rate of teachers, return of the students and improvement in the evaluations. With the insertion of these new mechanisms and functionalities to be developed in this research, in the system of Profes, we hope to consolidate the brand leadership in the intermediation of classes, enabling greater assertiveness of the solutions in their consolidation in the national market, increasing international competitiveness and substantial improvement of Brazilian basic education.
