The use of CRISPR/Cas9 technology to study genes involved in livestock trophoblast development

Abstract

Dr. Bouma has extensive experience in the study of trophoblast formation in ruminants. In its most recent studies, the CRISPR / CAS9 technique is used as a tool for genome molecular manipulation to understand pathways involved with normal or abnormal placental formation. Our intention with the coming of Dr. Bouma is to implement strategies to study the effects of in vitro embryo production on trophoblast cells and if possible to design strategies to perform in vitro manipulation of these cells in a less invasive manner. Dr. Buouma participation through seminars and discussion of experiments will contribute to the refinement of our approaches to the development of the use of extracellular vesicles as vehicles for the delivery of bioactive molecules. In addition, new projects may be outlined with the researcher during the presentation of student results linked to the Young Researcher project. (AU)
