Abstract

The metabolic profile can be used to monitor the adaptation of metabolism to different types of diets, to diagnose possible nutrient homeostasis imbalances, and to identify causes of manifestation of nutritional or metabolic diseases. To evaluate the organic and performance alterations in cattle and buffaloes resulting from different feedlot types, evaluating oxidative stress and possible short-term changes during feeding. Will be used 24 animals, 12 cattle and 12 crossbred buffalo, aged between 14 and 16 months and body weight between 200 and 300 kg. The animals will be housed in individual pens with food and water supply and will undergo a period of adaptation of 15 days of diet. The animals will receive different diets, one consisting of 100% total grain and the other group will receive 70% concentrate and 30% corn silage (based on dry matter). The animals will be weighed weekly after 14 hours of water and food fasting. Blood samples will be obtained at the time of evaluation to perform biochemical analyzes, which will be performed using the automated biochemical analyzer (Labmax 240, Labtest). Serum biochemistry analyzed the concentrations of Total Protein, Albumin, Urea, Creatinine, Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Beta-hydroxybutyrate, Unesterified Fatty Acids (NEFA), Total Bilirubin, Direct Bilirubin, Glucose, Lactate, Ca, P and Mg. enzymatic activities AST, GGT, CK. Oxidative stress will be evaluated by superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity. The response variables will be analyzed in the SAS statistical package as measures repeated in time by the MIXED procedure evaluating the effect of species, diet, time and their interactions. (AU)
