Stereidogenic controle of intrauterine sexual diferentiation in capyvaras (Hydrochaeris hydrochaeris)

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to establish the patterns of morphological development, molecular characteristics and possible quantitative variations of 5-alpha-reductase enzymes, cytochrome P450aromatase, cytochrome P450c17, 3²-HSD, 17²-HDS and STAR enzymes throughout the different stages of capybara gestation. For this research will be analyzed 30 concepts in the early, intermediate and final stages of gestation. To date, 10 placentas with embryos / fetuses were collected throughout the different stages of pregnancy (initial, intermediate and final stages of pregnancy). Throughout the research, morphological development patterns of embryos and fetuses will be established through macroscopic dissections, histological and ultrastructural analyzes, molecular evaluations of the gonads, adrenals of male and female embryos / fetuses, and placenta. The expression of the anti-Müllerian hormones and androgen receptors in the ovaries in the different gestational stages will also be evaluated. The study will be able to understand the relationship between gestation and the stereogenic mechanisms of sexual differentiation, the formation of the genital organs of males and females, and the implications in the context of the sexual dimorphism of the species.
