Abstract

This project intends to analyze the issue of Brazilian migration to Ireland from two interconnected perspectives: both the question of the difference-building processes of immigrants and the question of the complex experiences brought about by the profusion of rules and mechanisms for controlling displacement in the European Union and in the Irish State. I intend to connect the day-to-day experience of Brazilian immigrants in Ireland with the global processes of restriction of displacement, the security policies of migration management, the role of humanitarian agencies in the conduct of these policies and the issues arising from the conflict processes between the European Union and the United Kingdom concerning Brexit.
