Territorial development with sustainability of backlands of Alagoas and study of biomass available for the sustainable production of small ruminants

Abstract

In this project, we admit the conception that the recent transformations of the rural world establish a new territorial dynamic, based on the interactions of the forms of organization of producers in the various Alagoas' contexts. This work aims to contribute to studies on rural areas. The object of study is a research on the territory to highlight aspects that distinguishes it in the economic, social and political contexts in the various Alagoas' contexts as well as a practical research on the use of natural plant resources in the region to minimization of greenhouse gas emission GHG by small ruminants created in the Caatinga region of the backlands of Alagoas. Ruminant production has had and will continue to play an important role in sustainable agricultural systems. With ruminants, areas not available for agricultural cultivation become productive with the production of biomass and nutrients; and the use of agricultural waste in the region should be used in the production of animal protein. The objective of the project is to examine the impacts of alliances and practices of rural producers on territorial dynamics, from a multidisciplinary perspective, in the context of the Alagoas backlands and its possibilities for contributions in minimizing negative anthropic effects from agriculture with more environmental friendly investments in rural communities, as a parameter the production of enteric methane in the production of small ruminants. The project also proposes to establish the food evaluation laboratory on Campus II - Uneal, to support the proposed tests to study the nutritional quality of forage biomass available for the production of small ruminants in localities comprehensive of the study area and information to estimate the consumption of forage biomass available for small ruminants with a view to the production of foods of high biological value in a safe and sustainable way. It is also intended to generate data that can corroborate to the elaboration of scenarios and modelling scans in biodiversity studies and proposals for public policies. (AU)
