Algorithms and protocols for intelligent transportation systems

Abstract

The disorderly growth of large urban centers has caused serious socioeconomic and structural problems for the population. These problems contribute to the increase in social inequalities and to a significant stress on the structure of cities. Over the years, problems related to vehicular traffic have increased due to the increase in vehicles in circulation and the large concentration of people in the same region. In this context, intelligent transport systems are an essential part to improve urban mobility. The objectives of this project are (i) To propose applications and services for the management of urban traffic using the communication capacity of vehicles; (ii) to propose algorithms for depositing auxiliary infrastructure in urban centers; and (iii) to propose management services for the of urban mobility integrated with the planning and deposition of an auxiliary processing/communication infrastructure. The proposed solutions will address research problems related to urban mobility analysis, communication protocols in urban, road environments and considering different scenarios. It will also address the planning and placement of auxiliary communication infrastructure as well as the integration of different communication services and infrastructures to improve the quality of applications for Intelligent Transport Systems.
