Abstract

Fruit growing is a valuable market for Brazil, we are the third largest fruit producer in the world, with approximately 45 million tons. Despite the volume, there are few products registered to control post-harvest fruit rot, and most of the existing ones are classified as very dangerous to the environment, in addition to leaving undesirable residues in the fruit, resulting in phytosanitary barriers for Brazil to improve. its position in export ranking. The seed sector is also of great economic relevance, being affected by the high incidence of fungi that can considerably decrease the productive potential of the crop. In both sectors, the control of fungal diseases occurs with the application of synthetic chemicals, which are aggressive to the environment and the health of consumers. In this project, Agromic proposes the development of alternative antifungals for both sectors, based on food preservatives and essential oils, aiming at effectiveness in the control of fungal diseases and sustainability. Thus, based on the promising results obtained in Phase I, three formulations were defined for continuity and development: a fungicide for postharvest of fruits; a coating with antimicrobial additive whose purpose is to control fungi and reduce dehydration of fruits in storage; and a fungicide for the treatment of soybean seeds. The research and development stages of these products will be based on adjustments and optimization of formulations and design of experiments, in which will be determined: doses of formulations to be applied in important cultures; influence of the formulations on the physicochemical and biochemical characteristics of the fruits and determination of the commercialization period of the treated products; influence of the formulation on vigor and physiological viability of treated seeds during storage. The main expected results are: development of a product portfolio, which should be efficient, stable, 'zero waste' and increased technical and economic viability of the business. In broader terms, research will contribute to sustainable alternatives for producers and seedlings, while the business will have a positive banner for promoting products for sustainable management.
