Abstract

This research project seeks to analyze regional innovation and inventor networks using patent filings between 1997 and 2020 registered at BADEPI-INPI using REGIC-IBGE as spatial units. This project is structured with the proposition of three scientific papers. The first aims to assess the determinants of innovative performance in Brazilian regions, exploring heterogeneity by type of patent. The second article seeks to analyze the co-patenting networks of individuals and the role of the regional context in their formation and evolution. Finally, the third aims to analyze the determinants of the inventive productivity of Brazilian inventors, verifying how, among other factors, the location and research networks affect their production of new patents.
