Validation of educational material in comic format for the prevention of child obesity

Abstract

Childhood obesity is a highly prevalent condition and inadequate care behaviors can cause psychological, aesthetic, financial and functional disorders that can be minimized through preventive measures. This study aims to create and validate an educational comic book to guide laypeople on the prevention of childhood obesity. The methodological study will consist of four phases: literature review, elaboration of illustrations, apparent content validation with calculation of the Flesch legitimacy index (IF), ending with a pilot test. The validation will be carried out by 20 expert judges with expertise and knowledge about childhood obesity and will later be evaluated by 50 volunteers, fathers, mothers or guardians of children aged between 0 and 5 years. The expected result will be the contribution in health education, in an objective and easy way to understand the correct knowledge of prevention measures and cases of childhood obesity, reducing future complications aiming at a better prognosis for those involved.
