Abstract
This project is based on an exciting recent finding of the visiting professor on the existence of supersymmetric solitons, for certain boundary conditions, in the Einstein-Maxwell-AdS theory in four and five dimensions [1]. This indicates the existence of new ground states of quantum gravity defined by M-theory and type IIB supergravity.The project intends to characterize these new solutions and clarify their holographic role, in strongly coupled quantum field theories, by studying how they modify the phase space of these theories. We expect to give different tasks to the interested students, post-docs and researchers interested in working in the subject in orderto finish this characterization in the nine months that the project would last. Indeed, we would like to make the participation in the project available to all the scientific community in the state of São Paulo. To this end, the visiting professor would like to give a series of four lectures at the beginning of the project describing the problem and the concrete tasks that are needed to solve it. (AU)
