Abstract

Dr Jaap van Diëen is a professor at the Faculty of Behavioral and Movement Sciences, Neuromechanics at Vrije University Amsterdam, Netherlands, where his group investigates the effects of ageing, musculoskeletal and neurological disorders on human movement with as main focus the stability of posture and gait. His group goal is to contribute to prevention, treatment and rehabilitation with respect to musculoskeletal and movement disorders, by increasing our understanding of movement-related causes and consequences of these disorders and related impairments. The visit of Dr. Diëen to São Paulo State University (Unesp) - Bauru Campus -SP has three main objectives: (i) to give lectures in two important scientific events: 1st School of Biomechanics of Bauru and XX Brazilian Congress of Biomechanics, sharing his deep scientific experience with Brazilian researchers and students; (ii) to collaborate in research projects developed by the Human Movement Research Laboratory (MOVI-LAB) and the Information, Vision and Action Laboratory (LIVIA) at UNESP/Bauru, increasing the impact of collaborations and publications of these groups; (iii) to teach a discipline in the postgraduate programs of Human Movement Sciences - Interunits and Design at Unesp, promoting the internationalization of postgraduate programs and improving the training of postgraduate students in the state of São Paulo.
