In vivo biological model and mathematical tools in skin healing using Red and Faveleira Propolis assertiveness in clinical treatment

Abstract

The healing process depends on a series of biochemical and physiological factors, which are sequential and interdependent, triggering mediators for cellular activation and reorganization of the injured tissue. Depending on the metabolic alterations, the lesions can take up to years for their total closure, since there is no gold standard of treatment that acts effectively in the healing of the skin. Thus, the search for a new product is necessary, and different types of propolis have aroused great interest in the screening of substances with potential anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor and healing effects, as it has significant amounts in its composition. of phenolic compounds and terpenes, possibly the main responsible for the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in the skin healing process. For this, male Wistar rats will be used, which will be randomly divided into experimental groups (n=5). The animals will be submitted to the induction of the dorsal lesion of 2 cm in diameter, which will be treated once a day and measured for 3 and 7 days. The area of the wounds will be measured daily to verify the gross reduction and the clinical appearance of the lesions. After euthanasia, the wound will be used for biochemical (anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity), histological, immunohistochemical and molecular analysis using RNA-seq transcriptome and RT-qPCR. In this way, the development of formulations for the future treatment of skin wounds in humans and animals is expected.
