Abstract

This project aims to investigate the possibilities of a pedagogical practice centered on mathetics principles of constructionism and on computational thinking for knowing and doing mathematics, as opposed to the pedagogy of instruction. Guided by the qualitative research methodology, we propose to develop and investigate activities based on computer programming, associated with robotic devices, which favor the production of mathematical knowledge in a more inclusive, meaningful and human context. These activities will be carried out by elementary school students and will be analyzed mainly from the mathetics principles identified in the works of Seymour Papert and concepts underlying computational thinking. Therefore, our main challenge will be to produce understandings about the mathetics principles associated with computational thinking for Mathematics Education. (AU)
