Abstract

Under the framework Photonic Connectivity and seeking to contribute to widespread access to the high-speed Internet for the Brazilian population, this project gathers some of the most advanced human resources and lab facilities available in the country, under the leadership of Brazilian researcher with a large experience on ultra-wideband and ultra-high-speed photonics. In this effort, involving research and lab facilities integration from Unicamp, USP-São Carlos, CPQD, INATEL, UFES, UFPE, UPE, we will carry out world-class research under the framework of Photonic Connectivity, generating knowledge and innovation, with focus on the education and training of high-level human resources, patent filling and registration, as well the publication of the results in high impact journals. The goal is to contribute to establish the foundations to prepare the country for the strategical challenges of the future Internet.Specifically, this research project relates to several physical layer aspects, including: planning and optimization of optical networks, transmission and routing of lightwave carriers, optical signal processing and access networks (in this case, also encompassing optical-wireless integration techniques and the 5G/6G mobile fronthaul).
