Abstract

This project will allow the use of 3 Tesla MRI-3T magnetic resonance equipment for scientific research and image processing in Medicine. It will be used to obtain radiological images of various anatomical locations. Remote operation is an important solution for the high demand for specialized exams in remote locations in Brazil. Brazilian beneficiaries of health plans performed more than 1.5 billion procedures in one year; among them, more than 860 million exams. In this scenario, MRI appears as the third most performed exam, with more than 7.9 million consultations. In a country with the characteristics of Brazil, having an excessive demand for a highly specialized exam, such as MRI, can be a problem for many patients. To solve this bottleneck, technology appears as an ally, helping to take qualified medicine to more remote places that lack professionals specialized in more complex procedures. In the area of Radiology, we currently have a technology capable of allowing remote examinations, through a programming center, the so-called Command Center. This feature allows the operator to schedule more than one exam at the same time, having full control of the console, through chat, voice and/or video communication with the local operator, with the advantage that fewer employees are in contact with a possibly contaminated environment. This technology makes it possible to increase occupational safety without harming or reducing care assistance. In the scope of research, the use of this technology allows remote access from different centers with standardization of protocols in good clinical practices; Exchange with a specialist to develop acquisition and testing protocols; and Support for carrying out research exams by remote operators, during non-business hours; Applicability in care is where we can see the greatest impact with the use of technology, such as the standardization of protocols, carrying out exams in places without specialists, reducing costs and reducing the impact of employee absenteeism.
