Annual Plan for Using the Institucional Technical Reserve 2023 for Research Support at FZEA/USP

Abstract

The Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering FZEA/USP has been experiencing very strong growth in recent years, from a total of 80 students in 1993 when it was founded, to the current 1,526 students (undergraduate and graduate), with all classes of undergraduate courses fully implemented. This growth, although very beneficial for research, as it allows a significant increase in critical mass, causes a certain priority in resources for small infrastructure works aimed at research development and supporting professors who have demands to develop their projects. It is therefore necessary to guarantee to the faculty members who are developing these proposals, the minimum necessary conditions of infrastructure. Given the difficulty of doing this with the budget, this project to use the portion of the Technical Reserve for FAPESP's institutional infrastructure costs is of capital importance in this phase of growth. In this sense, the present investment proposal with resources from FAPESP's Institutional Technical Reserve was planned to support the infrastructure demands of research laboratories, especially for the acquisition of structural items for the environment of laboratories recently contemplated with large projects, in addition to maintenance or repair of laboratory equipment. As already mentioned, FZEA/USP is still expanding regarding its research infrastructure, and additional resources are always welcome until all research areas are completely implemented and consolidated.
