Abstract

The research aims to analyze the body education proposed for the coastal landscape of Santos between the 1890s and 1940s, responsible for consolidating it as a source of healing, rest and amusement. The time frame begins in the 1890s, when the first hotels and clubs on Santos's beach were opened, and ends in the 1940s, when the beginning of mass tourism in the city was stimulated. It will use a set of written sources, consisting of medical literature, the press and travel guides, as well as imagery sources, consisting of photographs, drawings, postcards and painting. (AU)
