Abstract

The aim of the present study is to synthesize niobium-doped hydroxyapatite particles and incorporate them into an experimental endodontic sealer, evaluating their physicochemical, mechanical, and biological properties. Niobium-doped hydroxyapatite particles will be produced using the microwave radiation method. The cements will be produced with a methacrylate monomer base in the proportions of 70% of UDMA, 15% of GDMA, and 15% of BisEMA. Paste A will be formulated with 1 mol% Camphorquinone (CQ), 1 mol% 4-(Dimethylamino) Benzoate (EDAB), 1 mol% Di-Hydroxyethyl-Para-Toluidine (DHEPT), and 0.01% by weight Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) as the photoinitiator system. Paste B will be formulated with the addition of 1% by weight Benzoyl Peroxide. The sealers will be prepared by manually mixing Pastes A and B and will be tested for kinetics and degree of conversion, flow, film thickness, softening in solvent, flexural strength, filling of root canals by micro-computed tomography, and cellular response in an inflammatory microenvironment using the tooth-on-a-chip model. The characterization analysis of the produced particles will be carried out descriptively. The results will be analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey test at a significance level of 5%. (AU)
