Abstract

Despite increasing productivity, hegemonic capitalist agriculture has caused environmental, social, and economic problems, driving the search for agroecological alternatives. Agroforestry systems stand out by enhancing biodiversity in food production through specific techniques and innovative environmental management. This project aims to analyze whether agroforestry systems linked to Cooperafloresta in the Vale do Ribeira (São Paulo, Brazil) promote the autonomy of agroecosystems. Using the Lume and Mesmis methodologies, which involve analyzing the functioning of agroecosystems and participatory approaches, the study includes literature review and fieldwork. The expected outcomes include substantiating arguments, proposals, and calibrating public policies to implement innovative forms of environmental management and governance of agro-food chains. (AU)
