EMU: Acquisition of pilot plant for processing healthy and functional non-alcoholic beverages - Bev Tech

Abstract

Changes in consumer profile and behavior are expected to generate significant changes in the non-alcoholic beverages market. Two factors are irreversible, as they are related to the population's life cycle, with the aging of traditional consumers and the emergence of new generations with new values and consumption habits. Among the new trends for the non-alcoholic beverages market that have emerged and/or been reinforced from the Covid-19 pandemic are: functional brands that continue to demonstrate robust growth, led by energy drinks and sports drinks, but also including new functional need claims that are emerging. This proposal will provide a pilot plant complementary to the institution's areas (ITAL) that will make up the structure of the Tropical Food Innovation Lab, with the aim of meeting emerging demands for functional, healthy products and also the growing area of plant-based beverages, enabling connections between universities, companies, investors and entrepreneurs to drive innovation in the beverage industry.
