EMU: Acquisition of equipment for the National Nanotechnology Laboratory for Agribusiness.

Abstract

The National Laboratory of Nanotechnology for Agribusiness (LNNA), affiliated with Embrapa Instrumentation, plays a vital role in the scientific and technological advancement of the Brazilian agricultural sector, focusing on nanotechnology. Established with the support of the MCTI and FINEP, the LNNA is recognized as one of the Strategic Laboratories of the SISNano, dedicating considerable equipment usage time to external users. With advanced infrastructure and a qualified team, the laboratory is capable of facing large-scale scientific and technological challenges. Through the Agronano Network, the LNNA promotes interdisciplinary collaborations, highlighting its role as a catalyst in research and partnerships. The innovations and research of the LNNA have significantly contributed to agribusiness, especially in international projects and partnerships with private companies. The funding request for the LNNA includes the acquisition of essential equipment for the continuation and expansion of its research. A Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis (DMA) equipment is sought to replace an old model and will be used in important studies, such as the evaluation of natural rubber and the development of new materials. Also, a Gas Permeability Meter, crucial for the development of innovative food packaging. Finally, a 5 mm NMR Probe for the Bruker Avance III equipment, which will increase the laboratory's capacity to perform faster and more accurate analyses, benefiting a wide range of research groups in São Paulo. This request for funding for new equipment is essential for the continuation of the LNNA's work as a center of excellence in research and innovation, directly impacting scientific advancement and the development of key technologies for the agribusiness of São Paulo and Brazil.
