Abstract

The Araribóia Indigenous Land, belonging to the Tenetehar people, is one of the mostimportant remnants of the Amazon Biome in Maranhão, characterized by great biodiversity, one of the largest indigenous populations in Brazil, significantreserves of carbon stock and the headwaters of the Pindaré river basin. In recentdecades, speculative enterprises and great economic power have been the natural resources of the Araribóia Indigenous Territory and its surroundings. Ancestral knowledge related to the ethnobotany and ethno-ecology of the indigenous peoples in the T.I provide a promising promising solution for restoring this degradation. The availability availability of natural resources in the TI enables the sustainable production of biodegradable biodegradable, guaranteeing income generation, as well as strengthening and preserving preservation of indigenous cultural heritage. Meliponiculture is an activity that already exists and has the potential to expand and generate income. Native bees play a fundamental role in the pollination of plants, helping in the recovery process, improving the genetic flow of plants in fragile areas. (AU)
