Abstract

The rise of quantum technologies requires the control of the emission at the photon level, creating either single photons or bunches of correlated photons. In this project, we aim to show how interference of photons coherently scattered by two-level atoms allows one to produce bundles of correlated photons and thus to manipulate the photon statistics of the scattered light. The project builds up on the experience of the German partner, who has been investigating both measurement-induced as well as interference-based correlations between photons, and that of the Brazilian partner, who has experience in intensity correlations in large atomic systems and signatures of interactions from the light scattered by atomic ensembles.
