Biophysical evaluation of systems used in the breeding of animals

Abstract

The concept of the quality of the ideal atmosphere for the industrial production of animals, is linked to the principles of thermal comfort, which are broad, and are directly related to the microclimate within the installation, in turn influenced by the external climatic conditions. There are diverse ways of attaining the conditions of comfort within a building, with it being necessary to find practical solutions. It may be possible to change the entire internal atmosphere, acclimatizing and automating all the thermal exchanges, or using alternative systems which reduce the incidence of thermal charge in the animals, or again, using alternative forms of heating and cooling. However, for an ideal determination, and the dimensioning of these systems, as well as their understanding, it has become necessary to have a better understanding of the thermodynamic and biophysical phenomena, which are related to the animal performance and the environment. This project attempts to study the interaction of thermodynamic phenomena in intensive animal breeding systems, aiming to find solutions for problems related to the improvement in the intensive and industrial production of poultry, pig and dairy cattle.
