Abstract

Guided tissue regeneration (GTR) is a technique that uses a barrier membrane, which can allow the repopulation of local sites by their own cells. The aim of this project is investigated the in vitro biocompatibility of a novel membrane of the composite poly(vinylidene-trifluoroethytele)/barium titanate (P(VDF-TrFE)/BT). Osteoblasts, fibroblasts and keratinocytes, cells that will be in contact with the membrane during GTR, will be cultivated on P(VDF-TrFE)/BT and e-PTFE (control) membranes and the following parameters will be evaluated: cell adhesion, proliferation, and viability, apoptosis, total protein content, collagen content, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, and bone-like nodule formation for cultures of osteoblasts and fibroblasts; cell adhesion, proliferation, viability, and apoptosis for keratinocytes culture.
