The dilemma of not communicability

Abstract

The dilemma of incommunicability deals with the inquiry of one of the most acute questions of the present time, as much of the subjective point of view, how much of the interpersonal one and the social one. The problem that we, while the social beings, have the desire of communication, but this does not means that we, in fact, succeed to communicate. Between intention and act an exceptional distance is interposed. The incommunicability, the dilemma of our time, becomes still more radical and dramatic particularly at a historical time supplied with an amount and with a fantastic intensity of devices to communicate. But, certainly, for this only reason: the size of our anguish to communicate can be measured by the exaggerated creation and manufacture of instruments for the communication. This one justifies that one. This research will act in three plans. In the large field of the social forms of the mass broadcasting, the incommunicability happens, for example, in the production and transmission of news, a situation where journalists and enterprises of communication irradiate daily amounts of signals, whose audience is uncertain and whose effect cannot fully be verified. Journalism believes to carry through the real communication but it produces effectively, in the best one of the hypotheses, just information. The information are recognized and apprehended by the receiving public but they do not possess, for hypothesis, the capacity to produce deep transformations, this effect belongs either to the communication that is a searched but really uncommon occurrence in the informative processes. In a narrower, inter-subjective plan, the incommunicability becomes clear as an irreconcilable difference between the sexes, taking as presupposition that the masculine sexuality does not recognize the logical and existential feminine particularity of communication, trying to reduce it to his formula and to his proper conceptual ordering. This difficulty becomes still more explicit in the relationship of couples, where the universe of the structural difference of the sexual singularities reaches its paroxysm in the pathology of the conjugal incommunicability. Finally, the incommunicability operates in the plan of the individualities and subjectivities, demonstrated by the structural isolation of the society (especially of masses), where each one reveals the 'radical impossibility to abandon itself' or to share experiences and emotions that are found in the so called 'solitary life of the soul'. This dilemma finds its paroxysm, for hypothesis, in the fact of the will to communicate becomes, in extreme cases, radical desperation for communicability, that only can finish in its externalizing through the 'possible extreme of man', namely, in forms, as for example, the desire of the proper death.
