Abstract

Vaccines against capsulated bacteria currently used worldwide are denominated conjugate vaccines which are constituted by the capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a protein. The aims of this project are: 1. development of a vaccine against Haemophilus influenzae type, capsular polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus toxoid by a scaleable- up process. 2. Test of a conjugate vaccine against Streptococcus pneumoniae constituted by the capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a pneumococcal membrane protein (PspA). The aim of the An improved method to calculate antibody avidity index.use of the protein PspA is to increase the coverage of the conjugate vaccine. At least, two different serotype polysaccharides will be tested: 23F and 6 B and two different PspA: family 1 and 3. The project includes also optimization of the cultivation process of the S.pneumoniae 6B and E. coli expressing PspA. (AU)
