Lactations cows fed with two sugar cane varieties

Abstract

Actually, Brazil is the greater sugar cane producer of the world, but the sugar cane cultivated for animal supplementation presented low productivity, different from sugar cane for alcohol and sugar industry that presented high productivity. The sugar cane-of-sugar has been used mainly for producers without conditions to produce efficient and economic corn silage. Currently, the majority of the small properties uses sugar cane as food supplement during the dried season. A research showed that 86.7% of producers of Ourinhos region; 47.2% in Araçatuba region, 67,4% in Bauru region, 40% in Bragança Paulista region, 63% in Franca region, 66% in Presidente Prudente region and 75% in Ribeirao Preto region use sugar cane for cattle supplementation. On the other hand, it is looked for to lower the costs of the concentrate of lactation cows and the by-products how soybean hulls can be an alternative. The objectives of the present project are to study the dry matter consumption, of two varieties of sugar cane-of-sugar for milk cows, as well as the influence of the substitution of part of the maize, of the concentrate, for soybean hulls. Also is considered to study the in situ degradability of the two studied sugar cane varieties, and the substitution og corn by soybean hulls in the varioation on ruminal pH, N ammonia and the amount of fat acid volatile of rumen. This project is a partnership of three institutions of APTA, APTA regional, where the experiments will be carried through, the Sugar Cane Center, IAC, where the varieties of sugar cane are cultivated and the Instituto de Zootecnia, where will be carried through all the food chemical analyses.
