Abstract

The present project aims to apply thermal treatments to austenitic-ferritic super duplex stainless steel, in particular the ASTM A 995M Cr5A (Cr25 In7 Mo N) in crude fusion state. The thermal treatment will impose high temperatures to the samples placed inside a dilatometer, in order to allow thermal analyses in the 1650°C range. The phase transformation group has recently purchased this equipment with funds from the FAPESP grant number 2006/05982-2. In this project, after dilatometer tests that will establish the following structural modifications, those modifications will be performed inside a 1700°C temperature range oven, which is subject of the enclosed grant proposal.
