Abstract

The exploration and production of oil in pre-salt wells in a safely and economically efficient manner depends, among other factors, on the development of materials that withstand the harsh working conditions found in such wells. The research group of DEMa-UFSCar in recent years has been working on the development of alloys produced by spray forming process which have both high resistance to wear and corrosion to be applied to pipes and equipment used in drilling and extraction steps fo oil extraction. Currently underway is a project funded by Petrobras and Themaatic FAPESP, production of bimetallic tubes by spray forming of stainless steel internally coated with wear and corrosion resistant alloys. This initiation scientific project fits within the scope of this project and aims at the production of super martensitic stainless steel tubes in laboratory scale and an initial assessment of the mechanical properties possible to be achieved in such tubes after heat treatments of quenching and tempering.
