The aim of this study is to characterize the spatial variability of the clay mineralogy in a context of the soil-geomorphology, to help the understanding of spatial relationships with the physical and chemical attributes of Oxisols. An area of 500 ha will be chosen, with representation of origin material, regional geomorphic surfaces and soils. Samples of soil will be collected at the intersection points of a grid, with 5 points per hectare, in two depths. A transect will also be installed in the studied area, where soils will be collected at regular intervals of 25 m, also at two depths. Geomorphic surface and segments will be mapped in detail in the transect survey in order to characterize the total area. Two grids with regular intervals of 10 m will be installed in green cane and burnt sugarcane areas for mineralogical studies. Samples of soil will be brought to the laboratory for physical, chemical and mineralogical analysis. The data will be analyzed by statistical and geostatistical methods, and maps will be made with the aid of digital elevation models and kriging techniques. (AU)
