Abstract

Extra-hospital treatment, especially for carriers of severe mental disorders and their families, is essential in the context of therapeutic advances and deinstitutionalization of care to mental patients. This research aims to evaluate the use of instruments to collect relevant information for the maintenance of the extra-hospital treatment of people with severe mental disorders. A two-year quantitative and cross-sectional study will be developed. It will be carried out in a community Mental Health Service in Ribeirão Preto, in the state of São Paulo, and the intentional sampling will consist of patients discharged from psychiatric hospitalization and their relatives. Recruitment will be done in the first six months of the study. The collection will last for twelve months and will consist of two stages: a nursing call in the outpatient health clinic in the days after the patient discharge and monthly following during six months with each patient discharged and their caregiver, through home visits and interview to apply instruments. The following instruments will be used: Sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire of patients discharged from psychiatric hospitalization; Structured Clinical Interview for Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (SIG-BPRS); Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale - BPRS; Morisky-Green Test; Sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire of relatives caregivers of patients discharged from psychiatric hospitalization; Family Overload Rating Scale FBIS-BR. Individual structured interviews with closed questions with be carried out by the responsible researcher. Data will be analyzed in the statistical program SPSS and all ethical principles will be followed. Results will be largely published. (AU)
