Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases are prevalent in our population. Behavioral and emotional factors are relevant to their ethiology and treatment. It is the aim of this project to describe the psychosocial and demographic characteristics of 100 inpatients in a Cardiac Unit. It will be also evaluated the behavioral and emotional risk factors to cardiac diseases, anxiety, depression, stress level as well as other medical measures such as blood pressure, blood sugar level, cholesterol and triglicerides. Based on these data, post hospitalization, it will be performed a cognitive behavioral group intervention, and reevaluated the patients, to assess the intervention effects on their cardiovascular health.
