Abstract

Objective: To perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the Portuguese version of the Mandibular function impairment questionnaire (MFIQ) and to estimated it intrarater reliability Methods: This is a validation study. Translation and backtranslation of the instrument will be done. Face Validity was will be performed by a multidisciplinary team of the specific area of knowledge with at least six members. The questionnaire was completed by 20 patients of the Centro Universitário de Araraquara in order to verify the Incomprehension Index (II) of each item. Therefore, committee members classified each item into "essential", "useful, but not essential", and "not necessary", in order to calculate the Content Validity Ratio (CVR). This version of the instrument will be applied to 120 patients to estimate the internal consistency and then be randomly selected 62 individuals who will respond to the questionnaire at two different times to evaluate the intra-examiner reproducibility. Descriptive statistics will be performed. The internal consistency is estimated by coefficient alpha Crobach-standardized and reproducibility by the kappa statistic with linear weighting. Will be adopted a significance level of 5% for decision making. (AU)
