Abstract

The main purpose of this research project is to describe and analyze the Brazilian population's perception of our foreign policy and of international politics. It is part of an international academic cooperation which includes research teams from various Latin-American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru. The Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), in Mexico, coordinates the project.The international project aims at understanding the population's perceptions and attitudes towards international issues - which increased in relevance in this century -, and to grasp the society's reaction to international changes and their effects on the domestic realm. The study covers a vast range of themes (cultural, economical, social, political, security-related) and levels (bilateral, regional and global) concerning international relations and foreign policy. A survey will be carried consisting of a probabilistic stratified national random sample of 2400 cases. (AU)
