Abstract

This project aims to study the consumption of alcoholic beverage among women and its relation to patterns of domestic violence, as well as assess the impact of a brief intervention in the modification of these behaviors, from a community sample. The research is divided into two studies. Study 1 will have a cross observational feature, to be conducted through a household sampling among adult women (sample size calculation estimated in 1600 women), for raising the consumption patterns and risk of violence. Study 2, to be held from cases found in Study 1, will be characterized as a randomized clinical trial, with the primary objective of assessing the impact of a brief intervention to be performed in women who present risk of alcohol consumption, divided GT in the treated group and control group GC (about 73 cases in each group). To collect the data will be used a demographic questionnaire, and other three standardized instruments: the AUDIT (used to investigate problems related to alcohol use), the CTS2 and CTSPC, both used to obtain information on violence between couples and between parents and children, respectively. For analysis of data from a study will be used the chi-square, t of Student, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multinomial regression model. In Study 2, analysis of variance with repeated measures with two fixed factors and interaction will be used. (AU)
