Abstract

The objectives of this research are to perform the transcultural adaptation to Portuguese, validate the Weight Concerns Scale and the Perceived Stress Scale and study the equivalence between the online and paper versions of the instruments.The research sample will consist of all students, female, enrolled in undergraduate courses of Dentistry (n = 270), Pharmaceutical Sciences (n = 202) and Sciences and Linguistics (n = 747) of the Universidade Estadual Paulista - UNESP Campus Araraquara (SP) in 2011 who consent to participate. To study the equivalence between the online and paper versions of the instruments will be used crossover design and 150 individuals will participate. Translation and back translation of the scales will be held. Then, face validity with the participation of a multidisciplinary team and content validation will be held. Confirmatory factor analysis will be performed and as indices of quality of the adjustment will be used c2/df, CFI, GFI and RMSEA. To check the stability of the factor solution will be performed invariance of the model. Convergent validity will be calculated and will be estimated the Average Variance Extracted (AVE) and Composite Reliability (CR). Internal consistency will be calculated by standard Cronbach's coefficient alpha (±). (AU)
