Abstract

Technological and scientific advancement has provided considerable benefits for humanity through the introduction of new therapies and, in this sense, many surveys have been conducted with the use of stem cells and encouraging results with regard to the benefits of treatment and in some cases even cure. Stem cells are cells that can generate different cell lines and can be collected from different adult tissues or embryonic tissues. Among the adult tissues that have a large number of stem cells viable, ease of obtention in a little intrusive method considered are stem cells obtained from deciduous teeth pulp.Stem cells derived from the pulp deciduous teeth has been widely studied because of their ability to differentiate into a variety of cell lines in the presence of various chemical mediators. The formation of teeth in humans begins around the third month of intrauterine development and the present study is to analyze the expression of several proteins related to cell differentiation potential of cell populations that make up the mandible tooth germ of human fetuses.Mandible of 20 human fetuses of both genders and of different gestational periods will be used and after routine paraffin inclusion, they will be subjected to immunohistochemistry for the following stem cell markers: NANOG, STAT-3, OCT 4, SOX-2 and PDGF. Immunostaining of these proteins in different cell populations will be analyzed by morphometry. (AU)
