Abstract

Venous thrombosis is defined as the occlusion of a vessel of the venous system. Three basic factors for the formation of a thrombus within the vessels are: changes in blood flow, vascular wall and / or blood elements. The investigation of other risk factors involved in deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is of great importance, since some studies suggest a correlation between venous thromboembolism (VTE) with risk factors for coronary artery disease (obesity, diabetes and hypertension). The use of animal models for the study of venous thrombosis can enable analysis of parameters that can not be investigated in humans, such as the evaluation of the components present in venous thrombosis after arterial occlusion.In this study will be used Wistar rats and SHR, and swiss mice, which will be submitted to a high fat diet to obtain the risk factors for coronary artery and after 12 weeks of diet-induced DVT is in stasis. This study aims to induce DVT in obese animals and / or insulin resistant and / or hypertension in order to assess the size and formation of thrombus formed. (AU)
