Abstract
The port modernization brought some improvements to the port work conditions, but this has been a sector of great prevalence of retirements of work, and there are few scientific studies related to them. The objective of this study is to investigate the relations in between the retirements of port workers (functionary), and work conditions and organizational aspects. This study is exploratory and descriptive, with quantitative and qualitative data The subjects (n=250) are entailed to port operators employees and to the port worker's syndicate - SETTAPORT, and are also retired of work. Three instruments are going to be used to evaluate the work conditions and organizational aspects: a) an elaborated questionnaire to obtain information of factors, causes and circumstances that induced the retirement; b) The Value Profile Questionnaire (VPQ), validated in Brazil from Tamayo and Porto (2009); c) an elaborated script for almost-open interviews, with the objective to investigate detailed information next to the subjective living of the workers, expressed in their proper vocabulary. These interviews are going to be recorded, and translated. Three types of textual analyses are going to be made by them: a) categorical content (Bardin, 2010); b) lexical pragmatic (Lima, 2008); and c) verbal times study to evaluate the temporal anchorage of the retired workers. The intention is to present the results in scientific events, publish them in indexed scientific magazines and also divulgate them next to syndicate and the port operators employees. (AU)
