Abstract
Cryptosporidiosis has a worldwide distribution and can affect animals and humans, especially young and immunosuppressed. This research project aims to assess the occurrence of the infection by Cryptosporidium spp. in young buffaloes, goats and sheep. For this, will collected fecal samples from a total of 200 buffalo calves, 260 kid goats and 200 lambs. To verify the elimination of oocysts, the feces will be examined with optical microscopy after stained by Kinyoun modified. For detection of the parasite antigen, will employed the kit ELISA Cryptosporidium Test of TechLab®. The positive samples by microscopy or ELISA test will be molecularly characterized by the technique Nested-PCR. Statistical analysis will consist of the Chi-Square test, using the SAS statistical software with the 5% level of significance, will be checked the association between the parasite with sex, race and age of animals examined. Will compared to the efficacy the Kinyoun and ELISA tests by diagnostic the Cryptosporidium spp. in the samples analyzed. (AU)
