Abstract
In the last decade, the nanotechnology has been explored in several area of the knowledge, this is promote the necessity of study and preparation materials nanostructured for specify applications. The preparation these materials involve different methodologies of the synthesis and use a several technique of characterization. Some example can be cite of the nanostructure materials as bucky ball C60, carbon nanotube, semiconductors, porous materials, biomaterials, phosphorus, catalyst, and others. The sol-gel methodology is an important technology has been used to prepare these nanostructured materials, several groups in the Brazil and the world have studied these technology. Our group has utilized the sol-gel process since its foundation at 12 years ago, in the preparation of the materials to application in catalysis, phosphors, glass, biomaterials, surface fictionalization and coatings. In all materials is necessary to know the structure or nanostructure for defined the application. The rare earths ions, mainly europium III ion, due to its spectroscopy properties, can be used as tools to study molecular structure. The emission spectra of the ion can be helper in the study of matrix structure. The proposal of this project is to support the several research line of the sol-gel group, to reveal the structure and nanostructure of the materials obtained by sol-gel hydrolytic and non-hydrolytic methodology, using the emission spectra of the europium III ion to using in specify applications these materials. Other technique will be use to characterization of the materials. (AU)
