Abstract
Supplier quality management is of fundamental importance to manage product quality and other requirement related to customer needs as well as reduction of costs of poor quality therefore improving organizational performance. It is especially relevant to companies in supply chains with high degree of des-verticalization. Although there is a clear connection between buyer-supplier relationship, performance criteria and supplier selection techniques, research papers reviewed in the literature do not attempt to establish criteria and techniques as a function of diverse buyer-supplier relationship. Deploy performance metrics (based on criteria) to selection and assessment of suppliers as a function of supplier segmentation is one of the objectives of this research project. Another gap identified in the literature reviewed is the lack of comparative studies on the effectiveness of analytical techniques to decision making on supplier selection. To propose guidelines to the use of fuzzy, AHP and ANP based on their suitability to different purposes in supplier management is also part of the objective of the research project. The research will focus on supplier management in the automotive supply chain since it has several adequate characteristics for this study. Project main activities include case research and computational modeling of the multi-criteria techniques. It is aimed to contribute to increment researches on this subject in Brazil, exchange experience and knowledge with practitioners and in the long run contribute to improve practices adopted by companies.
