Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of citric pectin intake on eggs quality, lipid metabolism, midgut development, integrity and cell loss, and bone integrity of comercial hens (Isa Brown). Four treatments are proposed: 0, 0,5, 1 and 2% of pectin, from 28 to 40 weeks of age. For this, 6 repetitions of 8 birds will used per each treatment. Eggs production and composition (eggsshell chemical and physical characteristicas; yolk protein, minerals ans lipid; albumen proteins and minerals and water) will be analyzed during all period. Blood parameters (Hemogramm, leucogramm and biochemical parameters related to lipid metabolism), bone integrity (weight, length, ash, water, protein, lipid, mineral concentration, strenght and density), and mid gut characteristics (villus size, globet cells number, epithelial loss, cell turnover) will be analyzed in birds 40 w. old.
