Structural and mechanical analysis and copings of experimental zirconia for use CAD/CAM system

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the mechanical properties of sintering shrinkage, maximum flexural strength, Weibull modulus, modulus of elasticity and fracture toughness of experimental zirconium compared to Zirconia manufactured for CAD / CAM and marginal adaption. Some data will be drawn from fractography Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy in Scanning Electron Microscopy (DSE/SEM). The study will bem conducted in two stages and Zirconias will be divided into five groups: ZE: Experimental Zirconia ZCO: Zirconcad, ZCA: IPS e.max ZirCAD, ZNE: Neodent Zirconia, and ZPR: Procera Allzircon. For the first step, the blocks of pre-sintered zirconia (n = 30) will be cut into standard size and taken to the oven for final sintering. After the analysis of sintering shrinkage using a caliper, the specimens will be fractured by three points flexural strength test and subjected to fractography analysis by Stereomicroscope and SEM (n = 10). The datawill be used to calculate the value of fracture toughness. Chemical analysis of the origin of the fracture will be carried out to identify the possible relationship between the composition of experimental zirconium and mechanical behavior. Flexural strength data will be analysed by Weibull analysis. Data will be analyzed by ANOVA (± = 0.05) The correlation between the EDS data and mechanical properties will be performed by the Pearson correlation coefficient. The second stage will assess the marginal adaptation of zirconia copings and abutments. To this end, ten of zirconia copings of each group will be made and the analysis of adaptation of the coping to the abutment will be held in a total of 16 measurements for each body-of-proof in predetermined sites. Data from the cracks formed will be calculated and an average value is obtained for each group and will be submitted to ANOVA (± = 0.05) for comparison between groups and Kruskal-Wallis tests to determine differences for each group.
