Abstract

Despite the increasing rate of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents in Brazil, nutritional deficiencies are still a concern. Even paradoxical, micronutrients deficiencies are associated with overweight and obesity. Aim: To analyze proteomic profile and to characterize proteins that are being expressed before and after a vitamin complex supplementation (retinol, thiamin, riboflavin, pyridxine, folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin D, vitamin E, niacin)in subjects in between 9 to 13 years old, eutrophic, with overweight and obesity; and to create and associate clusters from proteomic response and from food intake through sofisticated statistical analysis. Methods: This is a cross-over study to verify the way children and adolescents will respond to a vitamin complex supplementation. The subjects have routine assessment in a public health service in the outskirts of Ribeirão Preto (São Paulo, Brazil). The study is based on proteomic profile determination in three different time-points: at the beginning of the study, after three months of supplementation and after three months without supplementation. Comparison between the three time-points will allow us to determine how an individual reacts regarding proteomic profile after vitamin supplementation. Expected Results: Different proteomic profiles are expected, after vitamin supplementation, in eutrophic, with overweight and obesity subjects. (AU)
