Abstract
Individuals with reading problems have phonological skills losses, which may affect future performance in reading comprehension. Thus, understanding how these processes interrelate is extremely important for speech-language intervention, both in the clinical setting and in education, because it can support health promotion and prevention in the reading area and present a normal range for professionals who work in health and education area. Purpose: Characterize the performance of students in the 2nd and 3rd year of elementary school, with and without indicative of reading and writing disorders in phonological awareness and reading comprehension of sentences, verifying possible correlations between them. Método: Will be participating in this study 120 children with and without indicative of reading and writing disorders. Initially, all will be assessed by phonological awareness test CONFIAS (Phonological Awareness Assessment Instrument Sequential) and on another day, students will be assessed for comprehension of sentences, by PROLEC test (Tests of Reading Assessment Process). Analysis of Results: Inferential statistical analysis will be performed for the results of CONFIAS, which will be verified the sensitivity and specificity for each test and for the total of the evidence and established the ROC curves with cut-off values. The performance of children in the comprehension of sentences will be considered in the light of the values of CONFIAS cut and separated above and below these values, verifying possible correlations.
