Abstract
The overall objective is to contribute to improving the quality of life for adults 20 years and older, living in Bauru, São Paulo, studying the importance of musculoskeletal symptoms and their association with the autonomy and quality of life related to health. It will be an investigation in a population of individuals defined by age and sex (20 to 35 years male, 20 female and 35 years, 36 to 59 years male, 36 female and 59 years, male 60 years or more and 60 or more female). The complex will be sampling in two stages, with the sample size for each group shall be at least 200 individuals (100 males and 100 females), totaling 600 participants living in the city of Bauru, São Paulo. The sample size was calculated for prevalence unknown, ie, 0.50. To collect the data will be interviewed, at home, using the following instruments: 1. Characteristics of participants (demographics, socio-economic factors; characterization of the work, lifestyle, morbidity, anthropometric, and flexibility), 2. Musculoskeletal symptoms in the questionnaire Nordic - Nordic questionnaire for the analysis of muscoloskeletal symptoms. 3. Quality of life using the Medical Outcomes Study 36 - Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) 4. Activities of Daily Living and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living. The association between musculoskeletal symptoms (ME) and demographic, socioeconomic, lifestyle, work and morbidity, and anthropometric and flexibility association between musculoskeletal symptoms and autonomy with the total score obtained by the SF-36 will be tested by reason of the prevalence and later through logistic regression models.
