Abstract

The aim of this project is evaluate diets with growing levels of soluble and insoluble fiber in the feeding of finishing swine, in a qualitative feed restriction program. Sixty three pigs, with 80 kg live weight, will be used and fed corn and soybean meal based diets with the addition of purified cellulose, to meet the levels of 20, 25 e 30% dietary insoluble fiber, or with the addition of pectin to achieve the levels of 5, 10 15% dietary soluble fiber, totalizing 7 experimental diets. The parameters that will be evaluated are: growth performance, production and characteristics of the feces, carcass, meat and digestive organs weights of the animals, so as the diets digestibilities and digesta rate of passage. A randomized complete block design will be adopted, according with the initial live weight of the animals, with seven treatments and nine repetitions. Also an anaerobic digestion of the feces of the animals trial will be realized, in a complete randomized design, with seven treatments and three repetitions. The data will be submitted to analysis of variance, using the GLM (General Linear Models) procedure of the SAS statistic package (SAS 9.1, SAS Institute, Cary, NC, USA) and the means comparisons will be done with the SNK (5%) test. The normality of the errors will be tested by the Cramer-von Misses method, according to Everitt (1998) e homogeneity of variance by the Levene test. (AU)
